California Hotel & Casino Reviews

The California is just one block from the Fremont Street Experience, which is something you have to see when you are in Vegas. The California Hotel is a moderately priced hotel that is 5 minutes from the famous Las Vegas Strip.

The California has five restaurants on site, the Market Street Café if you are looking for causal dining. If you are looking for something more try the Redwood Bar and Grill, they are pricey but the food is excellent. Then there is the Pasta Pirate, Cal Club Snack bar for a midnight snack and the Aloha Specialties.

Compared to other hotels in Vegas, the California is not on as large a scale as the others. There are no clubs, no attractions, no fitness center, and no nightlife (although obviously you can hit some cool clubs or something if you leave the hotel). There is an outdoor pool though there is no spa. There is no fitness center. But it does have gift shops, Ethel M’s Chocolates and Lappert’s Ice Cream shop.

Each room is standard either single or double. Suites are not available. The rooms have air conditioning, alarm clock, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, Cable TV and pay per view movies. There are extras such as currency exchange, maid service, laundry service and luggage service.

I’ve been told that the Redwood Grill at the California downtown is very good. Haven’t eaten there but did peek in, and it is a beautiful restaurant.
